ODACA Day 2026 - All aboard for imagination, invention, and inspired artistry! Everything You Want to Know

Steampunk? What in the world is that?

If you’ve ever imagined a world powered not by electricity—but by steam, spinning gears, ticking clockwork, and magnificent Victorian flair—you’re already halfway there. Steampunk is retro-futuristic fantasy: brass goggles, corsets and waistcoats, top hats, airships, and ingenious contraptions that never quite existed… but absolutely should have.

For ODACA Day 2026, we’re transforming our annual luncheon into a Steampunk Masquerade—and you’re invited to step through the looking glass with us.

Dress the Part (If You Dare!)

This year we’re adding an extra twist of fun. Guests are encouraged—though never required—to add a splash of steampunk to their attire:

  • A pair of whimsical goggles

  • A gear-laden brooch

  • A dramatic hat

  • Victorian-inspired lace or velvet

  • Or your own imaginative interpretation

We’ll award prizes for the best-dressed adventurers of the afternoon! But if costumes aren’t your cup of tea, come exactly as you are. The only requirement is a love of dolls and a sense of fun.

The Centerpiece Dolls – The Heart of the Event

Seven extraordinary ODACA artists are creating original dolls inspired by the Steampunk Masquerade theme:

  • Christine Shively Benjamin

  • Deanna Hogan

  • Carol Johansen

  • Sandra Wright Justiss

  • Anne Myatt

  • Linda Rous

  • Stevi T.

Each luncheon table will feature one stunning centerpiece doll—and here’s the thrilling part: one guest at each table will take that doll home. With eight guests per table, that means you have a one-in-eight chance to win!

Your drawing ticket is included with your luncheon reservation and will be waiting for you at your seat. Imagine the suspense as each table’s winner is announced!

The Helper Drawing – Excitement Times Ten

If you’ve attended before, you know this is pure magic.

Generous ODACA artists donate dolls, books, and special treasures to our Helper Drawing. Guests may obtain tickets and place them in containers beside the items they hope to win. As names are drawn, cheers erupt and hearts pound—it’s lively, joyful, and wonderfully unpredictable.

It’s a room filled with beauty, generosity, and that delicious moment of possibility.

The Luncheon Program – A Surprise Awaits

Of course, there will be delicious dining—main course and dessert—along with a delightful favor for every guest.

But the presentation? That remains a secret… for now.

What we can tell you is that the seven centerpiece artists will be part of the fun. Expect creativity. Expect laughter. Expect something memorable.

More details (including the menu) will be posted on the ODACA Events page as soon as they’re available.

Come Early!

Doors will open early so you can:

  • Choose your seat

  • Visit the Helper Drawing tables

  • Reconnect with friends

  • Soak in the steampunk atmosphere

There’s always buzzing conversation, warm reunions, and new friendships forming before the program even begins.

And Don’t Forget the Artist Sales Room!

Right next to the luncheon location, ODACA artists will offer dolls for sale—ranging from charming small treasures to fully realized masterworks. It’s a rare opportunity to:

  • Speak directly with the artists

  • View their exquisite craftsmanship up close

  • Add a one-of-a-kind creation to your collection

There truly is something for every collector and every budget.

Join the Adventure

ODACA Day is more than a luncheon. It’s a celebration of artistry, imagination, friendship, and the extraordinary world of professional doll making.

This year in New Orleans, we invite you to fasten your goggles, adjust your gears, and step into the marvelous machinery of the Steampunk Masquerade.

Tickets are limited—and the drawings alone are worth the price of admission.

We can’t wait to see what you’ll wear… and which doll might be going home with you.
