Art Rogers

 I have been creating art dolls since 1997, my dolls are mostly one of a kind, but I do create limited editions for galleries, shops and special events. I sculpt primarily with stuffed and jointed fabric bodies, many will include a wire armature and epoxy putty faces. After the sculpting is complete I use acrylic paints to add depth and character.

My designs have been described as quirky and whimsical. I enjoy process and do not hesitate to let it show whether it is visible hand stitches or finger prints and brushstrokes in the clay. Most of my work involves disproportionate body parts and realistic glass eyes.

Inspiration comes from fantasy, children books, anime, nature, the materials themselves and daily life experiences. I love the process of creating an object where the end product has a soul and invites you in. I have been fortunate to be included in collections around the world and to have my work featured in several doll related publications.
