Joyce has been creating original, one-of-a-kind cloth character dolls and open edition elves and fairies since 1990 when she first became intrigued with what could be done with fabric, stuffing, paint and imagination. After 26 years of doll making and mastering her skills and techniques, Joyce's soft sculpture character dolls can be found in private collections and museums around the world.

Joyce says she finds inspiration everywhere she looks and admits that finding and collecting special items to use with her dolls is an obsession. Even after creating hundreds of dolls, she still looks forward to sitting down at the sewing machine to begin work on a new one. Her desire is to pass along some of this enjoyment with each doll she creates in hopes they will bring a smile to all who see them.

Over the years her dolls have appeared in U.S. and International juried exhibits and competitions resulting in numerous awards and appearances in magazines and books. She sells her "FabricImages by Joyce" at galleries and shows. Joyce also invites inquiries and accepts custom orders.

Her professional associations include Original Doll Artists Council of America (ODACA), Texas Association of Original Doll Artists (TAODA), Professional Doll Makers Art Guild (PDMAG) and the United Federation of Doll Clubs (UFDC). Joyce is also a member of the Bee Wild Fiber Artists group, the Brazosport Art League and the Galveston Art League.

Before retiring to become a full-time doll artist, Joyce worked for 30+ years as an office professional at the Dow Chemical Company in Houston and Freeport, Texas. She and her husband, Wilbert, live in Brazoria, Texas with their beloved dog, Toby, and cats, Molly and Tom
