I was born in Baltimore Maryland, but have resided on Long Island
New York since 1964. I graduated from S.U.N.Y. Stony Brook in 1977 with a major
in Fine Arts and a minor in Art History. I also attended Maryland Institute of
Art, the School of Visual Arts in New York City, L.I.U. in South Hampton, the
the New York Academy of Art. Besides my formal education I have participated
in several doll making workshops.
For over 20 years I worked as a freelance textile designer in the home furnishings
industry, plus doing designs for over the counter fabrics. At the same time I
pursued my own personal fine art work. I belonged to the Ceres Gallery in New
York City for over 12 years. In additional to showing in the Ceres Gallery, I
have had 12 one person shows plus many group exhibitions both juried and invitational;
five of which were doll shows.
I have always been involved with art and fibers for as long as
I can remember. I take great pleasure working with art of all kinds. Recently
I have been concentrating on working with fibers: specifically dry needle felted
figures.
I hope that my dolls will bring pleasure and a smile to all people that view
them. At the same time I wish to encourage the public to view doll making as
an art form; one that can be both serious and whimsical and at a professional
level.
