Myra Sherrod has been involved in doll making for more than three decades, first working with fabric and later porcelain.
She discovered polymer clay more than 20 years ago and immediately embraced it as her medium of choice. Since that time, she widened her preferences to include paper, stone clay, epoxy and liquid air-drying clays.
In 1994, Myra earned membership in the Original Doll Artists Council of America. Although family health issues forced her to curtail her doll making activities for several years, she has now resumed her work and her ODACA involvement.
She currently serves as ODACA’s second vice president and chairman of its standards committee.
Myra’s approach to doll making is one of realism. Her specialties are character and portrait pieces. Her dolls have been showcased in museum exhibit and private collections worldwide.
She’s won numerous awards for her work, both within the doll community and the art world.
Myra has shared her knowledge of doll making via classes she’s taught and by presentations she’s made to various St. Louis area arts groups.
