Morning |
I was born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota to two very creative parents. My mother made all of of our clothing for 5 girls and my father was always
working on something in his workshop.
I am a self taught doll artist of which I'm proud. I took classes early on with other doll artists, read doll books and watched dollmaking videos but mainly learned by sculpting using anatomy books and photos as reference. I have been sculpting since 1986 and I have won best of show ribbons and I have done many wonderful gallery shows thoughout the country.
I enjoy the sculpting aspect of doll creation the most. Each one of my dolls is a one-of-a-kind made of polymer clay. 18 inches seems to be the size I like the best for sculpting and draping. I've done children for many years but I started to do more woman in the last three years and I'm
really enjoying the challenge.
So many have inspired me along the way. The person who I give credit to getting me started is Maureen Carlson. I'm now teaching at her Art Center,
so it has come full circle.
I hope people can appreciate the serenity and romance in my sculptures, but above all, I want them to appreciate the quality of my work.
